MPC is Going to Ecuador!
Monarch Park has been very privileged to partner with the organization Me to We.
For the past 7 years students from Monarch Park have been venturing outside their
comfort zone and doing the adventure of a lifetime. They have built schools in
Kenya, India and soon in Ecuador. Ecuador is a new location that has never been
traveled to by Monarch Park students. The goal is to help a mountain village with a
medical facility, a school, or some other form of building or aid that is most needed
at the time. The trip will begin when students fly into Quito, the highest capital in
the world. Fully scheduled by EF ‘Education First’ Tours, our voluntour will make
it’s way to Me to We’s Minga Lodge in the Amazon. Keep in mind that this was not
named after Monarch Park’s Minga social justice club. The Ecuador trip has been
called a “Must do for young students” by other schools that have been on the trip
and is much closer than India. There will be no problem with jet lag from a long
flight around the globe. In the past students have returned more focused and
determined to shape the world around them in a positive manner and the group
going in the spring of 2015 will be no different. All these trips would not have
happened without the support of teaching and administration staff at Monarch Park.
Additionally, special thanks to Ms. Ferry and Mr. Limerick for organizing this trip.
We wish our students, some who may be traveling out of the country for the first
time, good luck and have fun helping others. Also, look out for fundraising events
and more cool stuff coming your way.
